This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Japanese fashion brand NEIGHBORHOOD®. Following the opening of their flagship store in the Taipei Xinyi District last year, they are unveiling a new project in collaboration with the globally renowned custom motorcycle brand ROUGH CRAFTS. This collaboration will not only introduce a clothing collection but also feature custom-designed motorcycles and custom SHOEI helmets exclusive to this partnership. Pre-orders and sales are expected to commence on April 13.
It is widely known that NEIGHBORHOOD®'s creative director, Shinsuke Takizawa, is an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Meanwhile, Winston Yeh, the founder of ROUGH CRAFTS, is a globally acclaimed, award winning master in motorcycle custom builder. The collaboration between NEIGHBORHOOD® and ROUGH CRAFTS was fostered through their mutual passion for motorcycle culture and dedication to exceptional craftsmanship, sparked by their encounter several years ago at the Mooneyes Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show in Yokohama.
The inspiration behind this collection stems from the concept of "STREET TRACKER," maintaining the black aesthetic shared by NEIGHBORHOOD® and ROUGH CRAFTS across both motorcycles and clothing, embodying the spirits of both brands. The main visuals for the collection were shot in iconic locations in Taipei such as Lungshan Temple, Nanjichang Night Market, and Ximending, symbolizing the fusion of traditional Taipei charm with contemporary elements.
The selected motorcycle for this project is based on the Harley-Davidson SOFTAIL series' lightest and most customizable model, the "STREET BOB™ 114". Shinsuke Takizawa has contributed his expertise in graphic design, while Winston Yeh has interpreted the design aesthetics of ROUGH CRAFTS into the styling of the motorcycle. The sleek black exterior and elegant yet sturdy body lines exude a sense of refined rider style. Limited to only 5 units, each motorcycle is custom-made by hand. Additionally, a limited edition of 50 SHOEI helmets, exclusively designed for this collaboration, will be available for pre-order.
The clothing and accessories collection integrates the designs of both brands to reflect the essence of the collaboration. The brand slogans of "ROUGH AT HEART, CRAFT WITH PRIDE" are featured on items such as hoodies, long/short-sleeve tees, hats, and keychains, catering to both motorcycle riders and urban fashion enthusiasts alike.
